Stewardship Earth - 2008

Stewardship Earth

An event highlighting our role as caretakers of the Earth, Stewardship Earth Weekend will be April 18-20, 2008.

Sharing the commonality of renewable energy and conservation, houses of faith of every variety participate in this important annual weekend event dedicated to the care of creation.

The purpose of the project is to encourage a common, concentrated focus on the care of the Earth. Congregations have a variety of options for participation such as special speakers, sermons, bulletin inserts, prayers, homilies, youth projects and more.

The San Antonio Community of Churches, the Office of Social Concerns of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio and others participate in this city-wide, multi-faith program.

Solar San Antonio coordinates the event and provides resources and information on the environment and renewable energy. The Bexar Audubon Society has recently partnered to help Solar San Antonio publicize and promote the event.

Stewardship Earth Reception

This year, a reception prior to Stewardship Earth Weekend will present background information on the environment and renewable energy as well as provide an opportunity for congregation leaders and lay people to access handout materials on solar power, renewable energies and environmental issues.
