Solar Fest 2010
Saturday, May 1st
8 a.m. ~ Run on the Sun 5k
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. ~ Festival & Expo
Solar San Antonio is excited to announce Solar Fest 2010!
Each year on the first Saturday in May, Solar San Antonio fuses solar education and entertainment to provide the San Antonio community with a first-hand glimpse at available solar technologies and innovations. We bring the community out to enjoy live music, solar demonstrations, food, and fun under the live oaks of Maverick Park. An important annual event for the South Texas, Solar Fest provides valuable information to the public about renewable energy technologies, the impact of sustainable living, and green building techniques. Last year, 4,000 people came to Solar Fest and we anticipate much larger crowds this year.
At Solar Fest 2009, all of the electricity was derived from solar and Redi-fuel's soy-based biodiesels (thanks to power generators from J-Squared Services!). From the solar-powered stage, tent talks, exhibitor booths, 5K start/finish line, and Radio Disney stage, Solar San Antonio ensured that Solar Fest was all renewably powered. Entertainment and energy efficiency!

In an effort to reduce print waste, Solar San Antonio worked with Sweb Development to create an iPhone application for Solar Fest 2010. The app will feature a festival map created locally by Heavy Design, a hyperlinked exhibitor listing page, a solar pricing sheet, a speaker schedule with bios and topic summaries, t-shirt purchase checkout, as well as a musical performance schedule linked to each artist’s iTunes accounts. Click here for more informaton.
A special thanks goes out to c4 Workspace, Doing Media, and 1080 Entertainment for the above ad, and Time Warner Cable for airtime.
